Registration is now open for FilmTT’s Script to Screen workshops!

Port of Spain, 6th May, 2021: The Trinidad and Tobago Film Company Limited (FilmTT), invites all relevant local film industry professionals to register now for its Business of Film (BOF): Script to Screen Programme which will run from June to August 2021. FilmTT, in partnership with Stage32, exporTT and TTT will be hosting the three-month incubator capacity development and content creation programme which will focus on the community of local filmmakers who are interested in continuing to improve their production skills as well as their ability to devise, create, deliver quality, international audience-pleasing screen content. At the end of the programme, FilmTT will host a Pitch Session whereby participants will pitch their script before a panel of judges for the opportunity to receive fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) in developmental funding.

The BOF: Script to Screen programme is intended to position stakeholders at a greater advantage through access to business opportunities and professional growth. Local and international industry professionals will facilitate the sessions which include practical components and funding incentives.  The workshops aim to bridge the gaps by providing filmmakers with the proper story/scriptwriting skills, production tools, marketing and distribution guidelines.

FilmTT has once again partnered with international film educationalists, Stage32, to provide valuable content to the workshops. Jason Mirch, Stage32’s Educator, is a feature film, television, branded entertainment, and digital content producer and executive with over 15 years of experience. He has lectured on all areas of filmmaking, speaking on panels at the Producers Guild of America, the Harvard Screenwriting Group, American Film Market, University of Southern California Film School, as well as several international film festivals and markets.

“We are thrilled to be working with such passionate people within the film industry to help further develop the capacity of our own local film sector and we encourage our stakeholders to take advantage of this opportunity. FilmTT has hosted five Business of Film webinars in collaboration with exporTT, NEDCO, IPO and TTT and the interaction and feedback from these webinars identified several crucial gaps in the local film value-chain. The Business of Film: Script to Screen programme addresses one of the major gaps that have adversely affected the overall employment, international market access and opportunities for export capacity building. We are working towards addressing all of the other gaps identified in the near future” Leslie-Ann Wills-Caton, General Manager, FilmTT.
